Seeded Paper.. What's it All About?

You've probably seen seeded paper available to buy as greetings cards or possibly you've received an invitation or card yourself on this incredible paper, but what is it, how is it made and why should you consider it for your upcoming special event?

What is Seeded Paper?

Seeded paper is an eco-friendly paper, which has been embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted into soil, given water and plenty of sunlight, the paper then decomposes and the seeds sprout into flowers!

Seeded paper is a true blend of creativity and sustainability, so when it comes to your special event, giving your guests something they can enjoy for years to come is a fantastic way to kick off the festivities!

It's worth noting that every piece of seeded paper is unique, so this will mean that every piece printed will have slight variations in texture, thickness and seed distribution.

How is Seeded Paper Made?

The seeded paper we provide here at Jeccabox is manufactured through a British production company. The process involves blending recycled paper pulp with water, then the seeds are mixed into the pulp before the mixture is poured into a mould and pressed into the sheets which are printed.

How do I Plant Seeded Paper?

Follow these simple steps to enjoy beautiful flowers:

  • Fill a plant pot up to around three quarters full with soil, don't pack in the soil too tightly!
  • Place the seeded paper into the pot, it's OK if the paper overlaps. Spread a very thin layer of soil on top of the paper to cover it, and pat down gently.
  • Water the pot generously and place the pot in a sunny spot. During the first 10 days, ensure the paper is damp at all times to ensure germination.
  • Once the sprouts appear through the soil, ensure you are regularly watering but be sure not to overwater.
  • Enjoy your seeds sprout and grow into stunning plants, great for both in and outdoors!
