Wedding Wisdom: Nala & Knot
Welcome back to another edition of Wedding Wisdom; a guest blog series I've put together where I ask only the best wedding suppliers for their top tips and tricks when it comes to their wedding specialism.
This month, we're treated to the insights of the amazing Nala and Knot team. Having had my hair and makeup done by these gorgeous girls, I can only confirm that they stand by every word of their uplifting and experienced words in this article. So, grab a brew and enjoy!
Tell us about you and your business
Nala & Knot is a bridal hair and makeup specialist team and we cover the UK and destination weddings. Natalie and I are best friends and we founded the business 10 years ago and we have recently had our 10th birthday! We absolutely love what we do and all our amazing stylists share our ethos which is to make women look and feel amazing on their most exciting day. We also have a bride to be podcast called The Feel Good Bride Club talking all things bridal beauty, wedding planning and bride mindset too!
We have built our business on focusing on not just looking good but FEELING good too as we believe that every bride should feel amazing on their wedding day. It's why we are so passionate about the title of bridal specialist, because brides deserve to have bridal specialists looking after them on their wedding day with not just the glam but holding space for women to feel safe and calm too.
What specific services do you offer weddings
We offer bridal hair and makeup specialist services for a morning or all day option called ‘First Glance to First Dance’ where we are on hand from morning until the evening to make sure that our brides look picture perfect right up until the 1st dance! We also cover the UK and all destination locations and we offer pre and post wedding party and event glam. We have a free podcast for our brides and we are building a community with that space which is really exciting too!
How far in advance of a wedding should couples contact you?
We usually open the teams diaries from approx. 2 years in advance, however we do have brides who have got engaged and have married within a month! So we are always a message away to see if we can help and because we have a large team of 22 bridal specialists, we are able to offer multiple weddings and flexibility too.
What are some of the biggest wedding trends you've noticed recently, and how can couples incorporate them into their celebrations?
Trends are beautiful for inspo and ideas and equally they are forever evolving. So we always say to our brides to make their weddings align with them. Don’t follow trends but follow your heart when it comes to the wedding planning. Always take inspo from trends, and some trends will be totally aligned with our brides, so bring that into the wedding but make sure that the wedding is a reflection of you and your partner.
The trends we are loving are timeless beauty ones – feminine and classic and dateless hair and makeup looks that are so elevating and beautiful on our brides.
Can you share any timeless wedding style ideas that never go out of fashion?
When it comes to bridal hair and makeup, its so important that every bride feels and looks like them on their most elevated day. However, hydrated, dewy skin and flawless but finished hair and makeup looks are the ultimate feminine essence for bride. Bridal hair style wise, half up and hair down with feminine and fluffy but finished angel waves, a modern take on Hollywood waves is just stunning too as well as the twist on the French twist with that 90s edge too. Always remember though that if you are a bride to be, remind yourself of what YOU love and what makes you feel your best.
Finally, what are your top 3 tips for couples planning a wedding, when it comes to your specialism?
Our top 3 bridal hair and makeup tips are;
- BE YOU – bridal hair and makeup should be you on your very best day. Think about when you feel your best and let's use that as our inspiration to create your bridal look. Always think, how do you want to look in your wedding photos when you look back? We ask our brides to close their eyes and think about that look and it always helps them imagine their look
- Water is your best friend for beautiful bridal skin! Make sure you up your water and if you want to elevate your skin, make sure you work with a skin specialist at least 6 months before the wedding for support on any skin treatments and also the right products to use.
- For your hair, there is a misconception where unclean hair styles better – this is NOT the case my loves. Clean, fresh, dry hair is how we ask every bride to have their hair prior to styling to create their dream hair look.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Your wedding day is a beautiful and exciting one but remind yourself of your ‘why’ which is you are marrying your one, with people there celebrating you both. It's safe and love-filled, so lean into that feeling if you feel overwhelmed. Try not to channel stress and lean into LOVE! Trust your suppliers and work with suppliers who you feel aligned to, find your tribe and your energy and you will always be on the right path!
